Did you know this week is National Baking Week? Although we're halfway through already, there's still time to rustle up a few treats and hold a Flour Power event this weekend!
If that's a bit last minute, remember we are coming up to a really great season for baking – what better way to spend those chilly Autumnal days than rustling up some yummy treats to share with your friends, family and colleagues?
The first of the season is of course Halloween – the possibilities are endless, from green monster cupcakes to ginger bread bats, ghosts and witches.
Competitive Greenpeace colleagues are having their next fundraising bake-off to coincide with Halloween – who will rise to the challenge laid down last year by their super cupcake maker Louise?
Of course there is a whole raft (or should that be tray?) of possibilities for Flour Power events:
- Why not see Bonfire Night off with a bang and go all out with a fireworks party to remember – ask everyone to bring a dish or tray of treats and have a collection tin for donations from all your guests.
- If you are north of the border why not celebrate St Andrew's Day in Green style? You could hold a Scottish celebration lunch at work – everyone brings in a homemade dish and then people pay to try them all.
- Finally don’t forget to get ready for the biggest festive season of the year – Christmas and New Year. If you are tired of all the excess and fancy going really green – why not ask people to donate to your event instead of giving presents?
There are loads of brilliant ways to bake cakes - not the planet and help Greenpeace raise money for their campaigns at the same time! They can send you materials if you need them, including collecting tins, banners and even labels for the goodies – or you download them below:
