Every year tens of thousands of people get together across the UK for CSV Make a Difference Day, the UK's biggest day of volunteering.
Charities, schools, community groups, universities, companies and hundreds of local heroes, families and groups of friends all get involved. This year there are six guides focussed on combating loneliness and isolation. Download them below:
| Write a Difference | Writing a letter is a simple but effective way to connect with people who may feel isolated, be it in your community or the wider world. Take a look at www.postpals.co.uk | ||||
| Volunteer to End Loneliness | Many ways of tackling loneliness are reliant on volunteers giving their time and care. If you enjoy meeting others and sharing your time then volunteering to reduce loneliness and isolation could be for you. | ||||
| Make a Chocolatey Difference | This year we want to challenge people to make a difference to lonely or isolated people with a bar of Divine Chocolate (and because its Fair Trade chocoate you are making a difference to the lives of the cocoa producers too). | ||||
| Knit an Animal Blanket | This easy blanket is the perfect way to add a bit of comfort to the life of a cat or dog in an animal shelter. When they find a new home, they can take the blanket home with them to help in the transition to an unfamiliar environment. | ||||
| Get Online | Most of us use the internet because it makes our lives much simpler and more fun. But there are almost 9 million people in the UK who have never used the internet. Six million of these people are aged 65 or over and four million are from socially disadvantaged backgrounds. | ||||
| Combat Community Isolation | Use these ten simple ideas to make your community a safer, less isolating and happier place! From renovating a community centre to picking up litter. |
Have fun - Make a Difference!
