Maha Navratri

Navratri (nava +ratri = nine nights in Sanskrit) is a celebration of Durga, the Hindu Goddess of energy and power.

The celebrations are grouped into periods of three days - each being given over to adoration of the different aspects of the Divine Mother's personality.

For the first three days, the goddess is separated as a spiritual force called Durga  (more commonly know as Kali) in order to destroy all our impurities.

We can all benefit from de-toxing our life and there is no better place to start than with the food we eat and the toiletries and household products we use every day.

Take a look at the Chemical Database (under the Green/Eco Service icon). It's a fabulous, free resource which lets you search by symptom or by ingredient.

Of course, if you want to be sure you aren't consuming, absorbing or using harmful chemicals, there are a few easy steps you can take:
  • Look out for the Soil Association logo on food
  • Grow your own fruit and vegetables
  • Buy chemical-free toiletries at Wikaniko
Happy Navratri!
